Scientific and Research Association for Art, Cultural-Educational Programmes and Technology EPEKA was founded in 2008 to integrate creators of contents from fields of culture, art, education, science and technology for the project European Capital of Culture 2012.
The association focuses on international integration and cooperation with organisations and institutions at a local, regional and national level, its particular aim being the interdisciplinarity of various fields of art as well as research into ways of realising cultural programmes and projects, and establishing the platform to integrate artistic creativity, scientific research and technological paradigm in the contemporary setting, yet based on past knowledge and opening up future findings.
With regard to the programme, the association focuses on events that would redefine Slovenian culture, placing it on the world map, and of course, primarily on the European Capital of Culture 2012. Its paradigm is integration and cooperation, which will be realised both at a formal and content level in local, inter-urban, regional, national, international EU and global contexts. The world is global, and so are art and science, while the contemporary ICT network is the network of establishing such multipolar integration.
