Dreams are not our future
7th – 30th June, 2012 Locations: big advertising boards across Slovenia, arterial roads in Maribor – on multiple locations, Celje, Ljubljana.
Scientific and Research association for Art, Cultural-Educational programmes and Technology EPEKA invited visitors to the photo exhibition placed on big advertising boards all across Slovenia.
Opening: Thursday, 7th June, 2012 at 12am in Vetrinjski dvor.
Artistic photographs portrayed on big advertising boards all across Slovenia, arterial roads in Maribor and other locations such as Celje and Ljubljana (also a candidate for the European Capital of Culture 2012) questioned our perception. With changing the purpose of these boards that constantly, day and night, bombard us with different advertisements and force us to react it was interesting to observe the effects it has on us. Questions such as what are they trying to sell us can also be turned into art, what are they trying to tell us? Like the simplified and everlasting debate, what did the author try to tell us? We could also perceive them as advertisements for art, outside in the public, far from the dedicated galleries and museums, living in the ocean with other postulates of our modern society of consumerism.
